the intensity of this moment, the intensity of all moments since October 7th 2023 call to mind Yehuda Amichai's poem "A Man Doesn't Have Time In His Life". It's as though emotions and time collapse in a heap all together.....dancing and weeping, dancing and weeping. In this crazy world all we really have and to give is what is deeply human and the choice to begin again. Shabbat Shalom Mijal --may there be new beginnings......!

שבוע טוב

As always a beautiful, deep and relevant דבר תורה.

Thank you.

I was reminded of a pertinent quote from Rabbi Sacks, z"l:

"the law that all nations, however great, eventually decline and fall—does not apply to a people who never cease to study, never forgetting who they are and why." Covenant and Conversation, VaYelech.

A request: if possible, it would be great if you can post before שבת in Israel.

Thank you for sharing that beautiful quote by R' Sacks - absolutely stunning.

sorry about sharing when it was already Shabbat by you! The holiday season made it hard to post early but I'm working on returning to a wed/thur schedule bH

Not all of them are home. 18 of our brothers are in Gaza.

100% - we have to keep fighting for all of them to be brought to a digified burial in Israel and for their families to be able to begin their own cycle of healing.

Important lesson- may we correct our ways and begin anew when adrift!

Shabat shalom!

There's a beautiful poem I came across using language from Genesis of Joseph coming back to his brothers to describe the hostages coming home and the poem has them facing us and asking us all if we have learned our lessons of how much we're supposed to care for each other and have unity. Amen and shavua tov!
