"Intentional rededication" are the operative terms here....Since we are nearing Chanukah I just realized our classic way to teach about Chanukah in the US is as a holiday about protecting religious freedom. Yes, that is a wonderful message and in this diverse country it is especially important one. However we forget that Chanukah is also particular, not just universal and is an opportunity to teach about the intentional rededication to the whole of who we are, including as a people connected to a land. Therefore we should intentionally rededicate ourselves to the freedom to be who we are and to be grounded in peoplehood, learning and land, not just the freedom to believe! Thank you for this lesson Mijal and Joseph
