Well said, beautiful essay. Lately I have been seeing a trend of Jews being pitted against other minority groups. This is a tragedy as we should all have and celebrate the freedom to be different.
Thank you for this thoughtful beginning of our journey with you. I have also been feeling that trying to be like everyone has backfired. Too many of us forgot what it means to be Jewish in a positive way, having a bare identification or even negative. If there's a faint glimmer of a barely silverish lining, it's that Jews are discovering what it means to be a Jew.
Well-said. It’s a very difficult time. Mijal’s essay tells me to focus on the golden rays of the brilliant teachings of our people to lift my spirits in the midst of runaway hatred
I am so excited to join your substack. It is a joy to absorb your thoughts and heart on Wondering Jews. There is so much in this piece that resonates with me especially the themes of separation, discernment, dignity of difference. I am saying a שהחינו for this wonderful beginning!

We said thank you for this thoughtful and inspiring read before the Chag.
Thank you so much, Todd! Hag Sameah!
Amazing! Courageously true. Perhaps the Havdallah candle should not be left on too long so as to activate the smoke alarm!
